What is Operation Mahadev?
Operation Mahadev is a high-level counter-terror mission launched by Indian security forces in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22, 2025, claiming 26 lives. Based on concrete intelligence inputs, a tactical operation was executed in Srinagar’s Harwan-Lidwas area.

Operation Details
On July 28, around 11 AM, a joint task force of 24 Rashtriya Rifles, Para Special Forces, CRPF, and J&K Police launched a coordinated attack in the dense Lidwas forest near Dachigam.
During the encounter, 3 Pakistani terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed:
- Hashim Musa (Alias: Suleiman Shah) – Pahalgam attack mastermind
- Abu Hamza
- Yasir
